Now a days in Ivaylovgrad there is 4 423 peoples and it is a center of the municipality, which territory (820 sq. km) includes 51 villages with total population of 8 159 people. The town has a policlinic and hospital. The dominating building in the center is the community center “PROBUDA” built in 1914. In the historical core of Ivaylovgrad has been a lot of buildings with traditional architecture Province type of the rich Rodopa house; with smaller size and simple construction (the house of Lamber Lamberov, Stambol Dimitrov, Yany Popov, Triphon Mutafchiev). The architecture of the houses at the end of XIX century and the beginning of XX has very much similarity with the architecture style in the biggest towns of Tracia in this period.
Location
The municipality of Ivailovgrad is located in the southeast part of Rodopi Mountain. In south it border with the Republic of Greece and its neighbors in north and west are the Bulgarian municipalities of Lyubimets, Madjarovo and Krumovgrad.
The climate of the region is Mediterranean. The territory is about 820 sq. kilometers and is located completely in East Rodopi Physic -Geographical area. The above-sea level altitude is from 70 - 700 m. The relief can be characterized as well expressed low-hill and valley. The annual average of rains is between 725 and 925 ml. Sq. m. and an average temperature is 21-23 degree Centigrade that is much more than the average for Bulgaria.
The population is 8159 people. The villages are 51 organized in 18 towns' halls. The administrative center is Ivailovgrad with 5106 citizens.

What can you see
Ivailovgrad municipality is ecologically pure area. There are no industrial plants that polluting the environment. We have a dam lake that have 15 km shore strip and which predispose development of water and ecological tourism. The municipality already prepare and expecting to be funded from the financial ministry project for Eco-zone around the dam lake.
