Overview
Borovets, the first and most famous Bulgarian mountain resort, is situated on the northern slopes of the Rila Mountain at an altitude of 1300 meters. The resort enjoys a perfect location right at the foot of Mount Musala (2925 m), the highest peak on the Balkans. Only 72 km away from Sofia and just 126 km away from Plovdiv, Borovets is easily accessible from all parts of Bulgaria.
In the summer Borovets is just as marvellous as it is in the winter. It offers everything a perfect vacation needs: clean and fresh air, serene centuries-old pine forests, green meadows sprinkled with fragrant flowers and herbs, blue lakes and majestic snow-capped peaks. For nature-lovers the resort is a favourite vacation spot and starting point of many hiking routes in the Rila Mountains. And when the sun has gone down, the resort begins to pulse with the numerous lights of the nightlife...
Getting there
Flying to Sofia
Borovets is easily accessible - 12 km long, first class road connects it with Samokov and Sofia is just 72 km away.
From Sofia you can choose to travel to Borovets either by bus or by car.
By bus:
Every 30 minutes, a bus/minibus departs for Samokov from South Bus Station (Avtogara Yug). In about an hour the bus arrives at Samоkov Bus Station. There you can take a van to Borovets every 15 minutes. In Borovets, the van stops in front of Hotel Samokov. You can take the van back to Samokov in front of Hotel Ela.

Borosport Ski School & Day Care
Children can enroll in the BOROSPORT SKI School & Day Care in Hotel Rila. Children 8 years old and older can join Ski School. For children between the age of 4 and 8 the Borosport Day Care offers ski initiation lessons for 2 hours per day.

Nightlife
When it comes to partying after a day of skiing, Borovets is definitely a name to remember. Like almost anywhere in Bulgaria, the bars and discos of the resort offer very competitive prices for food and drinks. Most places often offer free drinks, announce happy hours or give discounts, so be careful with the rounds you order.
Hotel Rila is lively and friendly, burgeoning with many events: folklore evenings, wine tasting, sleigh rides.
Rila�s nightclub and disco club are the most popular in the resort. Some of the finest Bulgarian beers - Zagorka, Astika, Kamenitza are readily available in bottles or on tap. The same applies for the locally-brewed Heineken, Amstel and Stella Artois.
Winter Adventures
Night Skiing
Borovets opens early and closes late. Four runs are open at night at the height of the season, with illumination and sound, making Borovets the best resort for night skiing in Bulgaria. All you need is to purchase a night pass valid from 5pm - close.
Night skiing is open until 9pm every day.
Savor the magic hour when the dazzling floodlights begin to take over the dwindling daylight, and night skiing begins.
For those who have never tried it before, skiing under the lights is a delightful experience, especially in February and March when the evening temperatures begin to rise a little. But even in the deepest cold of January, night skiing is worth the effort of putting on some extra clothing.
Flying down the hill on skis in a pool of light surrounded by darkness is a perfect way to unwind from a stress-filled day. Even the ride up the chairlift at night is magical, the lights of houses and towns twinkling in the distance.
Additionally, night skiing is an excellent way to get more skiing time for your money. The prices of the night lift passes are lower than the daytime rates, and no lift lines will slow you down. It's an experience that is well worth the price.
