Burgas District

Burgas Province or Oblast is located in southeastern Bulgaria, on the southern Black Sea coast. Its capital is the city of Burgas. Burgas Province is the second largest Bulgarian province by area, after Sofia Province, and fourth by population. Burgas Province is subdivided into the following municipalities (obshtina) and towns:
Aitos municipality, Burgas municipality, Sredets municipality, Kameno municipality, Karnobat municipality, Malko Tarnovo municipality, Tsarevo municipality, Nesebar municipality, Pomorie municipality, Ruen municipality, Sozopol municipality, Sungurlare municipality, Primorsko municipality.

Bourgas is more than two thousand years old. It was founded as a Roman settlement under the name of Kulata. Today Bourgas is the fourth largest city in Bulgaria. The climate here is temperately continental with a distinct impact from the Black Sea. The favourable geographical location and advanced transport infrastructure of Bourgas are good prerequisites for development of tourism and trade. What most attracts people here is undoubteddly the sea. The city of Bourgas is the second largest city at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It is also he fourth largest city in the country, following Sofia,Plovdiv and connecting Varna. It is situated in the farthest western part of the Bourgas Bay and 390 km east of Sofia. Due to the low level of the coast in the area, three lagoon- lakes lie in the area surrounding the city.

The amazing combination of sea, sun and virgin nature make Bourgas a favourite spot for many holiday-makers.
